January 1794
- Joins the crew of the HMS Justinian at Spithead under Captain Keene
- Meets Lieutenant Masters & Midshipman Simpson

February 1794
- Meets Lieutenant Chalk of the HMS Goliath during the press
- Challenges Simpson to a duel, resulting in misfire
- Accepts Keene's offer to be transferred to the HMS Indefatigable under Captain Pellew
- Meets Midshipman Kennedy & Midshipman Bracegirdle

June 1794
- Assumes command of the Marie Galante of Bordeaux, captured by the Indy
- Formally meets Matthews
- Abandons the Marie Galante for pinnace in the Bay of Biscay
- Captured from pinnace by Pique, privateer ship under Captain Neuville
- Sets Pique on fire after two weeks as prisoner; rescued by the Indy & denies involvement in fire

- Meets Lord Edrington, the Marquis of Pouzauges, & M. de Moncoutant
- Travels to Muzillac (twenty leagues from Quiberon) with the HMS Sophia & Dumbarton under Edrington's command
- Assists Bracegirdle in destruction of a bridge and witnesses guillotine executions
- Serves as runner & translator for Edrington throughout siege, surviving repeated infantry battle

July 1795 - turns 19 years old
- Indy run off from Bay of Cadiz upon declaration of Peace of Basel
- Commands jollyboat against two Spanish war-galleys attacking the Indy
- Captures galley with jollyboat crew & made acting-lieutenant

September 1795
- Takes portion of examination for lieutenant on HMS Santa Barbara before Captains 'Dreadnought' Foster, Harvey, & 'Black Charlie' Hammond
- Interrupted to assist Foster in stopping a fire ship from setting the Santa Barbara on fire
- Briefly captured by Spanish fire ship crew in gig

April 1796
- Accompanies Mr. Tapling of the diplomatic service to Oran
- Takes command of the transport brig Caroline to for term of quarantine after Black Death outbreak at Oran

May 1796
- Captures a guarda-costa lugger with crew of Caroline
- Rejoins Navy after successful completion of 21-day quarantine

July 1796 - turns 20 years old

February 1797
- Given command of Le Reve, prize of the Indy
- Dines with Major-General Sir Hew & Lady Dalrymple at Gibraltar and meets "the Duchess of Wharfedale"
- Entrusted with the Duchess & several privileged dispatches for passage back to Portsmouth
- Gives dispatches to Duchess(/Kitty Cobham) when captured by the Spanish
- Held in Spanish prison in Ferrol

- Receives word that dispatches safely received by admiralty
- Promoted to lieutenant in absentia and allowed daily parole

- Volunteers to assist in saving crew of a ship wrecking on the Devil's Teeth
- Briefly rescued by HMS Syrtis under Captain Crome but returns to Ferrol of own accord
- Released from Ferrol by order of the Duke of Fuentesauco

- Bush becomes third lieutenant of Renown, making Horatio fifth

- Captain Sawyer falls down the hatchway in the mid-Atlantic
- First Lieutenant Buckland assumes command of HMS Renown during Sawyer’s unconsciousness

January 1802
- Renown arrives at Santo Domingo & runs aground while engaging the Spanish fort at Samaná
- Cuts out to launch land attack under Lieutenant Bush’s command with Wellard as messenger, taking fort
- Defends fort with makeshift hot-shot & hoisted guns, ultimately capturing three Spanish ships
- Given command of La Gaditana as a prize
- Survives and assists in suppression of mutiny by Spanish prisoners, in which Captain Sawyer is killed
- Command pro tempore of Renown given to Captain Cogshill at Port Royal in Jamaica

By default, Horatio is pulled from either Mr Midshipman or Lieutenant. With cross-canon interactions, he's most likely pulled from the gap between the books. With movie-based canonmates, he's most likely pulled from just after The Duchess & The Devil.
